Conversations with Primordial Progeny
An intense exploration of the soul of Jharkhand
Academy of fine arts, 2022
A surreal portrait of nature covering a wide range of quotidian existence and cultural historiography of contemporary transient life presented lyrically with an amazing precision may be a treat to the eyes of the visitors.
Lens travelers explore the timeless theme of the pristine landscape drawing on the time honoured presence of the aboriginal people inhabiting the metamorphic plateau on the one hand, and on the other the raison d’etre of the present state, crossed over largely from the earlier image of the place “where time stands still, and nothing happens” to the displaced people from their soil, where subterranean wealth is being dug out in the name of development for the pseudo elites.
This dichotomy of the jungle life and urbanization is glaringly addressed in their photographs which may appear to have evaded two familiar aspects of this state : tribal insurgency and politics of disobedience.
However, their photographs enliven the serenity of the life around, more eloquent and noble in a broader spectrum.
